THE BEST GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE IN ALL THE LAND

I am so glad that I decided to give this recipe a try because I never would have tasted the perfect cake ever! Try it now. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

For the cake:

3/4 c butter (1 1/2 sticks)

1 1/4 c dark cocoa powder

1 c brewed coffee (Or any liquid. I guess some people are against adding coffee, but it just brings out the flavour of the chocolate.)

2 c milk (I used coconut milk)

1 1/2 c brown sugar

1 1/2 c white sugar

3 Eggs, lightly beaten

1 tbsp vanilla

2 1/4 c all-purpose flour (or rice flour for gluten-free)

1 tsp baking soda

3 tsp baking powder

3/4 tsp salt

For the German chocolate frosting:

1 c brown sugar

1 c evaporated milk

3 Egg yolks

1/2 c butter (1 stick)

3 tsp vanilla

3 c Sweetened Flaked Coconut

1 1/2 c pecans (lightly toasted in the oven or a pan on the stove)

Directions:

Step 1: Prepare the oven and preheat to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Apply cooking spray and line with parchment paper three 8-inch cake pans.

Step 3: In a small saucepan, add the cocoa and butter. Place it on the stove and turn the heat to medium, then allow the butter to melt. Stir until well combined.

Step 4: Add in the milk and coffee. Whisk until well mixed.

Step 5: Add in the eggs, vanilla, and sugars. Whisk until well mixed.

Step 6: In a small mixing bowl, add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well combined.

Step 7: Pour the mixture into the saucepan and stir until well mixed.

Step 8: Transfer the mixture into the three prepared cake pans.

Step 9: Place them inside the preheated oven and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean after it in the middle.

Step 10: Remove the oven and allow the cakes to cool at room temperature.

Step 11: In a saucepan, add the milk, yolks, butter, and sugar.

Step 12: Place the saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to medium. Make sure to whisk until thick.

Step 13: Add in the pecans, coconut, and vanilla. Stir until well mixed.

Step 14: Remove from the heat and allow it to cool at room temperature.

Step 15: Meanwhile, allow the chocolate to melt inside the microwave.

Step 16: Remove from the microwave and add in the butter. Stir until well combined.

Step 17: Add in the vanilla, cocoa powder, milk, and sugar. Stir until well mixed.

Assemble the Cake:

Step 1: Fill the centre part and top it with the German frosting, then frost the edges as well as the milk chocolate frosting.

Step 2: Serve and enjoy!
